Dandruff is a scalp condition, where-in you tend to have white flakes on the scalp along with itching. It is caused by a fungus called malassezia, [pityrosporum]. When the population of Malassezia fungus grows out of proportion, it causes mild inflammation, which in turn produces a sizable population of dead skin cells. These dead skin cells fall as white flakes, which we know as dandruff.
